Funzi Island is located off the Kenyan South Coast and has a population of about 1,200. Funzi consists of four mangrove covered islands where Funzi Island is the main island and the only one with permanent inhabitants.
Popular excursions for visitors in Funzi are the crocodile safari in the nearby Ramisi river or going on a cultural tour in the village and enjoy a traditionally Swahili cuisines. The best swimming experience in the area will undoubtedly be on the naturally formed sandbank just offshore from Funzi village.

The day begins with a trip up the Ramisi river in motorized canoe, the river abounds with exceptional birdlife and, who knows, even the occasional crocodile.
A stop on the sandbank ensures that you’re at the most beautiful spot on the coast for swimming and making the most of this little piece of paradise (don’t forget your sunscreen, towel and beach sandals).
After a visit to the village on Funzi island for those who so desire, we head for the Funzi Restaurant. In a genuine Swahili house, you can sample our seafood specialties: crab, grilled fish, coconut rice, and non-seafood menus we offer chicken or beef. Vegetarian dishes are also catered for on request.
After a relaxing break, for as long as you choose, return to the mainland by boat. Transfer back to your hotel.
